Duval Street Parades
As police sirens whale your heads turn seeing what in the world it is finding out that it’s one of Key West many parades down its most famous road Duval Street. Reminiscent of New Orleans, Key West blocks off its main streets and allow parades to wow and amaze its awaiting and many times unsuspecting viewers. Most that I’ve seen here on Duval Street were ones that I never knew anything about in advance.
Pictured above and below was the Cuban-American Pride Parade lead by a motorcycle police escort (seen below) followed by 20 or so dancers, a car carrying the parade King & Queen and a single float bearing both the American & Cuban national flags. The entire parade lasted about 10 minutes tops! Also seen below is the most famous of all parades here in Key West called Fantasy Fest celebrated during the Halloween holidays that last year lasted over 4-hours!
These are of course FREE and some are more entertaining than others though all add to the mystique of the party atmosphere of the Florida Keys which keep all of us coming back for more!
